Prof. Dr Aleksandra Đukić, Associate Professor at Faculty of Architecture, University of Belgrade, Department of Urban Planning and Urban Design, Serbia.

Prof. Đukić`s field of professional activities and research includes urban design and planning, urban morphology, urban renewal and heritage. Prof. Đukić was a leader of a prominent national research project with international cooperation and Project manager of Interreg Danurb project for Serbia; she is the author of 4 monographs and over 180 scientific papers, a frequent keynote speaker, a lecturer at universities in Granada, Graz and Bari and member of several editorial boards of scientific journals. As an architect and urban planner in practice, she has done numerous projects of urban renewal and planning for UNDP, Ministry and Local government. Prof. Đukić received a number of awards in international architectural and urban competitions, awards in urban practice and rewards for the best paper at International congresses.

Currently, the professor is serving as Vice-president of Town Planning Association of Serbia and representative in ECTP-CEU.

 

 

Assoc. Prof. Dr ALENKA FIKFAK, University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Architecture, Chair of Urbanism, Slovenia.

Head of Chair of urbanism at Faculty of Architecture, with educational background in architecture and urban Planning from the same university. Prof. Fikfak is a senior lecturer and an experienced researcher in spatial and landscape planning, planning of small settlements, rurism and rural architecture, regulatory plans for the regulation of non-urban settlements, evolutionary constants of settlements in culture of undergoing renovation(particularly in a coastal region), models for revitalization of degraded landscape areas, analysis of trends of spatial development.Prof. Fikfak successfully organized more than 30 architectural and urban workshops (work presentations and exhibitions) aimed to popularize her students` works locally, among different communities in Slovenia; she organized several International conferences in field of spatial planning development and urbanism and frequentlyparticipated in national competitions, winning inter alia first prize for urban design of the city center Ravne na Koroškem in 2009.

Prof. Fikfak is member of different national and international scientific and art committees and she remains continuously professionally active in urban planning and design, working on different EU projects/programs.

 

Dr. Amir Pašić, Commissioner at the Commission to Preserve National Monuments of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Consultant to Director General for architecture in the OIC Research Centre for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA), Istanbul; expert of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the World Heritage Committee of UNESCO.

Dr Pašić is professor of architecture (1999), urban planning (2000), and theory and history of architecture and historic preservation (2009), currently affiliated at the University of Sarajevo. Prof. Pašić gave lectures at more than 30 most eminent universities worldwide (MIT, Harvard, Columbia, UPenn, York, La Sapienza, King Saud, Mimar Sinan etc.), served as the consultant for the Aga Khan Trust for Culture in Geneva, the World Monuments Fund in New York and ICOMOS in Paris. As an architect and planner he was in charge for four large projects in urban preservation, and numerous architectural projects, primarily in restoration. In 1986, prof. Pašić won Aga Khan Award for Architecture for the restoration of the Old Town of Mostar, and he coordinated activities on its rehabilitation after its total destruction in the 1992-95 war, for a period of a decade. Prof. Pašić is the author or co-author of 21 books and 52 articles and the author of the Nomination dossier for the WH property “Old Town of Mostar“(2005).

Currently, prof. Pašić serves as the regional editor of the prominent scientific journal published in London - “Journal of Cultural Management and Sustainable Development”.

 

 

Prof. Dr Ana Radivojević, University of Belgrade, Faculty of Architecture, Department of Architectural Technologies, Serbia.

Prof. Radivojević is an architect and Associate professor at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Belgrade, holds MSc and PhD in study and revitalization of architectural and urban Heritage. Her field of professional activities and research is focused on architectural constructions, building materials and building physics, with a special interest in traditional building materials, historical structures and building techniques; she is also interested in different problems of sustainability of buildings, equally addressing both, contemporary architecture and architectural heritage.

Prof. Radivojević is the author of numerous papers published in national and international scientific journals, proceedings from conferences, as well as books and chapters in scientific monographs. The published work that can be singled out are: Structures and Building Techniques of Ancient Rome (2004), Residential buildings in Serbia, Volumes 1-3 (with a group of authors, 2013), “Sustainability and the material aspect of traditional residential buildings in Serbia” (co-author), in Materials for a Healthy, Ecological and Sustainable Built Environment (2017) and Brick in Late Antiquity - Records in the Material (in press).

Prof. Radivojević is a member of Serbian Chamber of Engineers, Serbian Association of Architects, Serbian Association of Conservators and ICOMOS Serbia.

 

 

BorislavPuljić, PC for Reconstruction and Construction of Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, former Deputy Mayor and Head of Urban Planning of Mostar Municipality.

Dr Borislav Puljić (born in Mostar, 1959.) was educated firstly in Mostar, then  in Sarajevo at Faculty of Architecture (graduated in 1983) and Zagreb (Ph.D. in 2012). Dr Puljić worked in the Directorate for Construction of Neum and served as Deputy Mayor and Head of Urban Planning of Mostar Municipality; he is the executive manager - PC for Reconstruction and Construction Mostar and since 1998, and head of Ecoplan d.o.o. Mostar. Dr Puljić is member of the Croatian Chamber of Architects and Engineers since 2000. Dr Puljić is author of numerous scientific papers regarding history of architecture in Mostar, its heritage value, as well as co-editor of conference proceedings "Preservation and Improvement of Historic Towns" and many other publications. Dr Puljić is one of the most productive experts in the Balkans – he took part in over fifty architectural projects, dozens of spatial plans, urban development and master plans, over 30 implementation plans and a whole series of studies in different fields.

 

Professor Branka Dimitrijevic, PhD MSc Dip-Eng, Department of Architecture, University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, United Kingdom.

Prof. Dimitrijevic`s outputs in history of architecture, reuse of built heritage, sustainable built environment and social innovation for resilience of settlements have been published internationally. Prof. Dimitrijevic directed multi-institutional online knowledge exchange projects on sustainable building design and refurbishment in 2009-2013, and on integration of low carbon infrastructures into settlements in 2013-2014 - the projects which attracted over 3,200 participants internationally. Since 2014, she has been Director of Knowledge Exchange at the Department of Architecture, University of Strathclyde. As a Visiting Professor, she has held lectures at the Polytechnic University of Bari in 2005-2014 and, since 2009, at the University of Basilicata, Italy. Prof. Dimitrijevic collaborated with the Institute of Architecture and Urbanism of Serbia in the research on the influence of climate change on urban planning in 2011 - 2015. Her other professional activities include research work (assessing of research outputs for Italian academics, research proposals in Denmark, to Innovate UK and Nesta UK, and for EUREKA-EUROSTARS: Funding excellence in innovation, European Commission) and reviewing papers for 17 international journals. Prof. Dimitrijevic served as a member of the Boards of Architecture and Design Scotland (2010-2014) and Scottish Sustainable Development Forum (2010-2013), and as a member of 2020 Climate Group Scotland (2012-2014). Currently, prof. Dimitrijevic serves as member of scientific journal editorial boards for Journal of Cultural Heritage Management and Sustainable Development, Arhitektura i Urbanizam, and International Journal of Architectural Research.

Carmine Gambardella, UNESCO Chair on Landscape, Cultural Heritage and Territorial Governance; President and CEO of Benecon ScaRL Research Centre on Cultural Heritage, Ecology and Economy (Consortium of University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli”, Pegaso University, University Federico II of Naples, University of Salerno, University of Sannio), Pro-Rector at European Polytechnic University.

Professor Gambardella lectures Drawing at Pegaso University and at University of Campania, Italy. He is President of the International Forum of Studies ‘Le Vie dei Mercanti’ since its first edition in 2003, Honorary President of the Italian Comittee of the Nation Fulbright Sector on Cultural Heritage Sustainable Development, Urban Planning, Architecture and Management of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, editor and founder of the series “Surveying is/or Project”, “Knowledge Factory”, “Architecture, Heritage and Design” and component of the Scientific Committee of International Class A magazine ‘Abitare la Terra’/‘Dwelling on Earth’. He has covered various roles including the Pro-Rector of Institutions, Academic Senator, Member of the Board, Director of the Department of Architecture and Industrial Design Luigi Vanvitelli, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture Luigi Vanvitelli, Director of the Department of Culture of the Project, Director of Doctoral School in the Discipline of Architecture, Coordinator of the PhD in Protection, Safety and Representation of the Environment and Structures and Territorial Governance, Coordinator of the PhD Program in Surveying and Representation of Architecture, President of the Course Degree in Industrial Design.

Prof. Gambardella is author of numerous scientific papers about the surveying and representation. He is scientifically responsible for noteworthy national and international ongoing research project.

 

Prof. Civ. Eng. Doncho Naumov Partov, PhD, Department of “ Mechanics and Mathematics”of the Faculty of Civil Engineering in“University of Structural Engineering and Architecture”, L. Karavelov” in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Prof. Partov (born in Lom, Bulgaria, 1945)has been working in “University of Structural Engineering and Architecture”, “L.Karavelov, Sofiasince 1999, nowadays as Assoc. Professor and Head of the Chair “Structural Mechanics”. In 2000/2001 prof. Partov also served as Vice - Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering. He is experienced forensic engineer andlicensed professional, responsible for many design projects, studies and architectural competition proposals. He deals with wider field of structural engineering researchand evaluation of condition of existing historical structures.Prof. Partovpublished over 260scientific papers andrecently led a joint scientific-research project of Czech Academy of Science, Bulgarian  Academy of Science and University of Structural Engineering and Architecture ”L.Karavelov”, concerning  the mechanic-mathematical model of Iron church “St. Stefan” in Istanbul-Turkey(2008-2010).He was awarded 7 research grants by Ministry of education of Bulgaria until now.He is a member of prominent professional and scientific entities, he participated in numerous international conference scientific boardsand received prestigious awards and tributes, including honorary title Doctor Honoris Causa.

His current research interests involve historic structures and materials in the light of the modern theory of structural mechanics and variety of engineering aspects of built heritage preservation.

 

Florian Nepravishta, full Professor, Dean of Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism, Polytechnic University of Tirana, Albania.

Florian Nepravishta is full Professor and Dean of Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism, Polytechnic University of Tirana.
He has 20-years experience in teaching and design practice. Its practice activity and scientific research have been oriented towards architectural design, housing, adaptation and preservation of historical heritage and urban regeneration. He has conducted scientific qualifications and teaching activities at several international universities. Also, he has participated in the various scientific conferences and has published a series of scientific papers to level articles, references, monographs. He has been a member of various international scientific committees and editorial boards of several national and international journals. He is a board member of Scientific Council of the Institute of Cultural Monuments, presidency member of Albanian Association of Architects, EHNR, IFHP, etc.
During 2009-2012, he headed the Department of Architecture and Urbanism, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Polytechnic University of Tirana and 2012-2016 the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism, Polytechnic University of Tirana.

 

 

Hartmut Pasternak, Prof. Dr-Ing. habil., Brandenburg University of Technology, Cottbus, Germany.

Prof. Pasternak is involved in teaching, research and design of steel structures for more than 25 years. He is member in several National and International Committees (e.g. full member of the ECCS Technical Committee 8 “Structural Stability”). He has participated in numerous research projects (e.g. on thin-walled members, welding stresses and adhesive bonded joints). Under his supervision 14 PhD’s were completed. He has more than 170 publications in scientific journals and conference proceedings and co-author of four books in German and one in English on steel structures. Prof. Pasternak is the editor of prominent journal “Bauingenieur” for steel structures (Springer). As a proof engineer he has been responsible for many outstanding structures (e.g. Tropical Islands in Brand, Porsche Pavilion in Wolfsburg).His recent research interests include heritage structures and engineering aspects of heritage preservation.

Professor Federico M. Mazzolani, Professor Emeritus.

Prof. Mazzolani was born in Milan, in 1938, and is graduated in Civil Engineering at the University of Naples. Since 1970, Prof. Federico M. Mazzolani co-operated with the European Convention for Constructional Steelwork, assuming the responsibility of Committee and Twg Chairman. He was full professor of Structural Engineering Department of Structural Engineering University of Naples “Federico II”, Italy. Several fundamental documents, which he authored, played a leading role in the development of the European codification at the level of both national codes and Eurocodes. Prof. Federico M. Mazzolani is well known for his publications and works on seismic effects. He is also Chairman of the International Conference on the “Behavior of Steel Structures in Seismic Areas” (STESSA)

Prof. Mazzolani received numerous and very prestigious awards. His main research topics are: structural analysis and design, steel and aluminium structures (connection, stability), earthquake engineering (seismic design, passive control) and structural restoration (consolidation, upgrading). He is author of more than 700 papers in journals and conference proceedings, 49 monographs and 34 books (26 in English, 2 in Chinese).

 

Prof. Dr IlijaLalošević, Full professor, Faculty of Architecture, University of Montenegro.

Professor Lalošević (born1961. in Kotor, Montenegro) was educated as an architect in Belgrade, at Faculty of Architecture, and subsequently specialized “Architectural conservation” at the International Centre for studies of Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property – ICCROM in Rome (Feb.-Jun 1990), which directed his further professional interests.He had worked in Regional Institute for protection of monuments since 1985. and later also served as Director (1999-2004). He received Ph.D. from his Alma Mater for the dissertation on fortification architecture of Boka Kotorska from 15thuntil 18th century, in 2005.During postdoctoral studies, prof. Lalošević conducted his research and lectured at University of Pennsylvania (USA) within Fulbright ScholarProgram, in 2007.Nowadays,he teaches history of architecture, protection and revitalization of built heritage, design studios and elective courses in sacral architecture and architectural reconstruction.Prof. Lalošević was Vice-dean for international cooperation (2010-2015), member of Professional Board for Natural and Technical Sciences of University of Montenegro (20109-2012) and member of University Senate (2013-2016).

Prof. Lalošević is actively engaged in pedagogical work and scientific research.

Professor I. Vayas, Director of Institute of Steel Structures at NTUA, Athens.

Professor Vayas studied civil engineering at the National Technical University of Athens (Diploma, 1976) After a professional engagement as freelancing engineer, he joined in 1987 the Institute of Steel Structures at NTUA, of which he is Director. Prof. Vayas is involved in teaching, research and consulting for steel and composite structures, including industrial buildings, multi-story buildings, bridges, towers and masts, as well as he is engaged in restoration, strengthening and repair of existing structures. Prof. Vayas is author-coauthor of 12 in Greek, German and English, which are published by renowned houses such as Ernst&Sohn and Taylor&Francis. He is a member of the editorial boards of renowned Journals, such as “Journal for Constructional Steel Research” by Elsevier, “International Journal of Steel Structures”, by KSSC and “Steel Construction, and has numerous publications in Scientific Journals and Conferences; he has been a keynote speaker in a number of International Conferences.

Prof. Vayas participated in around 40 National and European Research Projects.He is Doctor at the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania.

 

Irina Subotić, Professor Emeritus, Academy of Arts, Novi Sad, Serbia.

Prof. Irina Subotić graduated Art History at the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade and later gained Ph.D., entitled „Art Circle of the review Zenit 1921-1926“, supported by the University of Ljubljana. At first, she worked as a curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art and later as the curator at the National Museum in Belgrade and professor of Modern Art History at the Faculty of Architecture in Belgrade and at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad. Nowadays, she teaches post graduate and doctorate studies at the UNESCO Chair of the University of Arts in Belgrade, as well as at the Academy of Arts and the Department of Stage Design at the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad. Prof. Subotić organized many exhibitions of Yugoslav 20th century art, in the country and abroad, participated to numerous congresses and symposia worldwide, published books, studies and essays on Yugoslav avant-garde of the 1920s, and on contemporary and modern art. Her specific field of interest includes museology and protection of cultural heritage. Prof. Irina Subotić is member of prominent national and international professional and civic organizations (AICA, ICOM, Europa Nostra/Europa Nostra Serbia, La Renaissance Française) and she has received several prestigious awards. 

 

Assoc. Prof. Katja Marasović, Ph.D. Architect, Croatia.

Prof. Katja Marasović is head of the Department for Architectural Heritage at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Geodesy and Architecture University of Split, Croatia. Native from Split, Prof.  Marasović graduated architecture in 1985, won Master in science in 1996, and subsequently Ph. D. (2002) from Faculty of Architecture, University of Zagreb. She specialized in Institut de l'architecture romaine, CNRS, France; Ecole Française de Rome, Italy and National Park Service, USA. Prof. Marasović has been widely engaged in research and conservation and rehabilitation of historical buildings - especially of Diocletian's palace and historical core of Split, as well as the valuable medieval and renaissance fortifications of Dalmatia.

Prof.  Marasović is the author of numerous conservation studies, architectural projects and scientific papers. 

 

Prof. Laura Baratin,Associate Professor of Design at the University of Urbino "Carlo Bo" ‐ Department of Basic Sciences and Fundamentals. Italy.

Prof. Baratin`s CURRICULUM VITAE ET STUDIORUM includes rich professional experience. Since 2010, Prof. Baratin has been the Coordinator of the Course in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage at the University of Urbino "Carlo Bo", Italy. Since 2016 (Jan. 15th), she has been nominated member of the MiBACT-MIUR Commission for the preliminary activities for accreditation of the educational institutions and the supervision of the restoration teaching, as representative of the Ministry of university education and research. Since 1998, Prof. Baratin has developed several projects of international significance on issues of conservation, restoration and valorization of cultural heritage, in which she was responsible for educational aspects, technology and knowledge transfer, as well as activities related to valorization in socio‐economic terms of heritage investments. In this period, she closely cooperated with numerous universities, institutions, local governments and international organizations (UNESCO, ICOMOS, CIPA). She developed most of the projects in Euro‐Mediterranean countries, in particularly in the Balkans i.e. Albania, Serbia, Bosnia and Macedonia (training of management and valorization of cultural heritage), then Libya (a project of monuments restoration and training, involving officials of the Department of Antiquities in Tripoli), also Lebanon (training program project for restorers in Beirut) and, the latest, Tunisia (2013-2017), in cooperation with seven universities in Tunisia, ParisTech from France, UNIMED and IUAV from Italy, and University of Barcelona from Spain.

Marula Nikoloska, Full professor of Faculty of Architecture at MIT University, Skopje, Macedonia.

An architect and full professor since 2009, Prof. Nikoloska previously worked in the Ministry of Culture of Republic of Macedonia – Cultural Heritage Protection Office (2005 – 2009), in the National Conservation Center - Skopje (1991-1005), and in the Municipality of Krusevo (1984-1991).The Ph.D. in Technical Sciences she received from Architectural Faculty of University of Belgrade (Serbia) in 2000. for dissertation titled "The spatial organization of the houses from the 19th century in Macedonia". Prof.Nikoloska previously completed master theses titled "Origin, occurrence and development of Krusevo House" at the same faculty in 1994. Ever since that time, her research interests have included​​ study, identification, evaluation, re-evaluation, categorization, regime of protection and use of cultural heritage and integrated protection of the immovable cultural heritage with particular regard to aspects relevant for spatial planning.

Prof. Nikoloska is the author of a distinguished monograph about 19th century city housingin Macedonia and numerous scientific papers.

 

 

Dr Radomir Folic, professor emeritus, University of Novi Sad, Serbia.

Professor Radomir J. Folić is Corr. Member of Academy of Science and Art of Vojvodina, member of Engineering Academy of Serbia and its former president. His research interests mainly include earthquake engineering and structures, interaction and rehabilitation of structures. At the beginning of his career, prof. Folić was involved in design of notable public buildingswith heritage values (e.g. Novi Sad Bank and Serbian National Theatre in Novi Sad, Memorial structure in Titov Veles), as well as in supervision of numerous building structures. For many years, he has been dealing with wider field of structural engineering: Earthquake Engineering, Concrete Structures and Bridges (including Precast Structures), Special Problems of Foundation Engineering and Assessment condition of existing structures (interaction between structures and environment). He has worked extensively on problems of repair, strengthening and renewal of existing structures and, in recent years, his research interestsfocus atreliability and durability of civil engineering structures. He held courses in Theory of structures and Concrete structures, Masonry Structures and Structural systems. Nowadays, he teaches Methodology of scientific research and Earthquake resistant structuresat doctoral studies. Prof. Folić published more than 700 scientific and technical papers, three books, and he designed approximately 90 preponderant structures. He holds many awards for structural design, scientific and education achievements, including Award for lifetime achievement.

He managed a great number of scientific-research projects and he continues his engagement in some of them.

Rosaria Parente, Associate Professor in Architecture, construction and geodesy, EPU European Polytechnic University Sofia (Bulgaria).

Rosaria Parente is professor at Pegaso University, of course of "Survey, Remote Sensing and Diagnostic".  Prof. Parente gained her doctoral degree in "Architecture, Industrial Design and Cultural Heritage" at University of Campania Luigi Vanvitelli. Her field of interests includes Safety Engineering.

She carried out Documentary Research activity on the Albanian Territory at the Architecture and Urbanism Faculty, Polytechnic University of Tirana. She tutors at Benecon Scarl of Ph.D Student in Information Technology and Electrical Engineering - University of Study Federico II, Naples. She is member of Scientific and Editorial Committee of the series Fabbrica della Conoscenza and of series Architecture, Cultural Heritage and Design.


Prof. Petar Mitković, Dean of Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture, University of Nis.

 

Prof. Mitkovic was born in 1953. Graduated at Faculty of Architecture in Belgrade in 1977., and also gained his there his PhD in urban planning.

 

Prof. Mitkovic's field of interest includes particularly spatial and urban planning. He is author on many distiguished plans and projects, and over 100 scientific papers.
